Kagadi-Kyenjojo Road crash claims seven lives

About 10 people were admitted at St. Ambrose Health Centre in Kagadi town.

ACCIDENT

KAGADI - Seven people have been reported dead and over 10 others are in critical condition after a construction company truck carrying workers lost control and veered off the road.

Emmanuel Kakooza, the officer in charge of traffic in Kagadi, told New Vision that the vehicle overturned in Kyamutunzi village at Kyamutunzi trading center in Kyenjojo district.

It is reported that 10 of the survivors were admitted at St. Ambrose Health Centre in Kagadi town.

 

Four people died on the spot while three others whose identities are yet to be confirmed died shortly after arrival at St. Ambrose Health Centre in Kagadi town.

Eyewitness Joseph Barongo told New Vision that the truck failed to brake, leading to the accident.

"The truck was moving at a high speed and I just saw it running off the road and I scampered for my life," he said.

Police's Kakooza identified some of the dead as Emmanuel Baguma, Elsword, Frank Kyaligonza, Edward Mugisa and Bashir Baguma.

The injured included Ronnie Katende, Ronald Muruuli and Charles Sun.

The truck was carrying workers as they returned from work and wre about to reach their destination when the deadly crash happened.

The actual cause of the accident is not known yet.
