Cheptegei's triumph evidence of his 'discipline, drive'

KAMAPALA - The Uganda Police Force has applauded one of its own, Inspector of Police Joshua Cheptegei for his accomplishment in Monaco.

Cheptegei broke the 5km world record in the French city on Sunday, clocking 12:51 minutes. he became the first man to break the event's sub-13 barrier.

The 10,000m world champion, who runs for Police Athletics Club, raced to triumph to win the Herculis Monaco Run.

"The Police would like to join the rest of the country to congratulate and uphold IP Joshua Cheptegei for his remarkable world record in the 5km race in Monaco," said Police spokesperson Fred Enanga.

He told a press conference that Cheptegei's win was "proof of how police officers are also actively involved in promoting the image of the country, breaking records after another".

"His continuous accomplishment at the world stage is a testament of his discipline, drive and determination to reach the highest level in the sport, placing him in the history books of the Police," added Enanga.

Enanga said the Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola said Cheptegei's latest victory would "certainly boost the young group of talented, powerful and determined athletes in the Police Force who seek to excel in the field and at the world stage".
