State minister for sports Hamson Obua has praised the Uganda Swimming Federation for being stable and wrangle free.

He urged other sports federations to borrow a leaf from the swimmers.

Obua was speaking at the DStv National Aquatic Excellence Awards held at Gems Cambridge International School in Butabika.

"I want to salute the swimming federation for being one of the stable national Sports federation we have in the country," Obua said.

"It does not surprise me that the new chairperson of the National Council of Sports came from this federation, Dr. Donald Rukare."

He warned federations still locked in power strugglesthat his office will not tolerate them.

"In the next two years now that my brother Rukare is in office. We are not going to tolerate this continued confusion," Obua said.

"To all parents, please never sit on the God given talent of your child, make sure you identify these talents early enough, groom and develop them. Your child will be the star of tomorrow," he concluded.

Different swimmers, clubs and coaches were   recognised and awarded in their respective categories.
