Do Uganda Premier League teams have enough in stock to stop the on-form regional and FUFA Big League teams when they clash today in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 32?

All eyes will be on holders Proline, who host Admin from Tororo district today at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo, a team that is topping the Bukedea Group in the Eastern Regional League.

They have played 12 matches, won 11 and lost one - a 2-1 defeat to second-placed Mbale Garage on Saturday.

Admin have sent out a bold message that they can beat even top-flight sides. They knocked out Abdullah Mubiru's Police at the Round of 64 via a 2-0 victory at the Paya Arena in Tororo last month.

Proline are struggling in the league. They are bottom of the log, having picked up 15 points from 21 matches played so far, which leaves them dangerously lying under the guillotine.

They have lost their last two games - against Kyetume (0-1) and SC Villa (2-1).

And with nine games left to play, relegation appears more of when than if it will happen.

As such, Proline know all too well that if they are to stand a chance of tasting continental football next season, they have to rise through the ranks in the Uganda Cup.

Their fans will have to rally behind their team today.

While the defending champions tag may not guarantee Proline the fear factor, going by the current state of affairs, home advantage could swing the odds in their favor.

In the final played last year in May in Masaka, Proline, who were at the time in second tier football (FUFA Big League) under the stewardship of Shafiq Bisaso, beat topflight side Bright Stars 4-3 on penalties to win their first Uganda Cup trophy.

Wakiso Giants are another top-flight side under scrutiny today. They host Elgon Group leaders MYDA (Malaba Youth Development Academy) FC, a FUFA Big League team.

By the conclusion of the first round of the Big League, MYDA were in great form and if they replicate such form today, Wakiso are in big trouble given that their current state of affairs in the league is no different from that of Proline.

Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, the head coach, has yet to ignite the spark within the team. He was recruited from Onduparaka at the end of the first round with high hopes of rejuvenating the team after a false start under Kefa Kisala.

Wakiso have been anything but consistent and one win, two losses and two draws in their last five games illustrates this.

Mbabazi, just like Proline's Mbowa, will need their players to work harder than they have done previously if they are to progress at the expense of their eastern rivals.

Muhammed Kisekka's Tooro United are on the road, set to face Kansai Plascon at Mukono Bishops SS.

It is hard to call this one. Things are not going the way of both teams in their respective leagues. Plascon ended the first round of the FUFA Big League struggling while Tooro are second from the bottom on 19 points in the Premier League.

There is a lot to play for. The ultimate winner of the Uganda Cup will represent the nation at the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
