Rubaga NRM members want to meet Museveni

Members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Rubaga division have requested President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the Party chairman to find time away from his busy schedule to meet them as he prepares for the 2021 general elections.

‘'We want to meet with the Party chairperson and discuss operations and strategies for 2021 election, we know Kampala district is going to be a battlefield for NRM and the Opposition,'' Kassim Sserugo, the NRM chairperson Rubaga parish said.

Sserugo said Museveni should use Africa Kwetu trek strategies by meeting NRM members at lower levels as it is the only way NRM can be great again.

Recently President Museveni concluded a six-day trek dubbed ‘Africa Kwetu' covering 195km. The trek started from Galamba in Wakiso district to Bireembo in Kakumiro district.

During the trek, he paid homage to the fallen comrades in the bush war, met families of his fighters and reunited with senior citizens as well as the widows and other people who defended the five- year struggle.

Serugo who doubles as chairperson of Rubaga NRM District Movement House Leaders Forum was speaking during the NRM meeting to forge a way on how to revive the party in the 2021 elections in Kampala where over 150 NRM members attended.

 Harriet Lwanga, the councilor Rubaga called upon the President to utilise the party structures, saying party structures are key in implementing the objectives and goals of the party.

She noted that as NRM members in Rubaga, over 185 SACCOS  from 135 villages have been registered with members waiting to equally benefit from the President's funds  but are however disappointed with him only trusting artists like Buchman who shun fellow members

‘‘We have registered over 185 Sacco's including boda boda cyclists, chapatti vendors, charcoal vendors and others who need to meet President Museveni as we prepare for the 2021 elections," she noted.

Harriet Nakala also a member of the NRM party was strained by security agencies that beat up  Ugandans, leading to a decrease of  NRM support in Kampala district.
