MOTORSPORT MEDICAL SERVICES
The sight and experience of a devastating scene last year in Busiika where two riders were severely injured and failed to get immediate treatment never left the minds of the Enduro Motor Club.
On Thursday, the club unveiled a new ambulance purchased from the collections of the fundraiser that was held in Garuga last year for the same cause.
"It is a dream come true," a representative from the sponsors (Shell Advance) noted.
"Sustainability in the sport for both the drivers, riders and the fans can partly be achieved through providing safety from life-threatening injuries as well as providing a safe ground for the injured to receive medical care in time to prevent circumstances like life loss in a motocross event due to injury", he added.
A target of shs120m for the ambulance was set but only shs82m was raised. Having failed to raise the full amount, the ambulance is not yet ready for its purpose and the club looks forward to purchasing new tires, inbuilt medical equipment, and insurance, all which they hope to work on.
The President of Enduro motor club Ttendo Mutale said that the ambulance will be available for any sports-related events.
"We believe all those people in the other sporting disciplines are free to come and request for the services of this ambulance. All motocross events are going to be braced by the huge opportunity to have access to medical services at a relatively faster rate without delays since the ambulance will readily be available at all events," he remarked.
