Vipers Coach Edward Golola has been relieved of his duties following the team's elimination from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by Buganda League side Kajjansi United on Wednesday.

Golola was sacked with his entire technical team. The Venoms went down 8-7 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw in the round of 64 at Wankulukuku stadium.

Other members on the technical sacked include; Richard Wasswa (assistant), Moses Oloya (goalkeeping coach) and Edward Ssali (trainer) among others.

"Vipers sports club announces that head coach Edward Golola and his entire technical team has been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. The club would like to thank Golola and his team for their work during their time at Vipers SC and to wish them success in the future," read a communication from the club.

"A caretaker technical team will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time coach".

Golola's woes began with a 1-0 home loss to SC Villa in a Uganda Premier League match at St Mary's stadium, Kitende last Friday.

Golola leaves Vipers on top of the league standings with 42 points, four behind second-placed and reigning champions KCCA FC.

The yet to be named technical team will have a big task of restoring confidence in the players and ensuring that Vipers at least wins the league.

Vipers will face tricky side Mbarara City away in their next game on Tuesday.
