21 clubs to take part in handball league

According to the list released, Kisubi, Mbarara and Nansana Handball clubs are the new entrants in the men’s league, while Kampala University is the new team in the women’s league.

The 2020 national handball league will be bigger and better organised.

So far, 11 men's teams and 10 women teams confirmed their participation in the league that is set to begin in April.

Uganda Handball Federation assistant secretary, Augustin Mugalu confirmed the development and added that they have given other clubs up to January 22 to confirm their participation.

"We want to have a bigger league, to give players enough playing time and also use it as a way of attracting sponsors," Mugalu said.

Mugalu explained that they wanted early registration so that they get enough time to plan and put in place all that is required to have a successful league.

According to the list released, Kisubi, Mbarara and Nansana Handball clubs are the new entrants in the men's league, while Kampala University is the new team in the women's league.

The other clubs registered in the men's category include

Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), St. Edward's College, Nkokonjeru, Makerere University, Uganda Police, Kyambogo Handball Club, Kisubi Handball Club, Nansana Handball Club, Evergreen Handball Club Ndejje University, Mbarara Thunder Handball Club and Uganda Prisons in the men's category.

In the women category the teams include, Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), Kampala University, Makerere University, Uganda Prisons, Kyengeza Handball Club, Uganda Police, Kawanda Secondary School, Nkajja Handball Club, Ndejje University and defending champions Nkumba University.
