“We are ready, this is our home ground and let them come expecting fireworks,” Bwete said. The event opens the 2020 Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) calendar, the FMU assistant secretary Earnest Zziwa said on Tuesday.

“Whereas this does not score points on the National Rally Championship (NRC), it will score points on the sprint, CRC and 2WD championships,” Zziwa explained.

Clerk of the Course, Lameka Mulyanyi explained that the double Circuit sprint sponsored by Coca-Cola will cover a total distance of 6.6kms.

Drivers will battle it in two runs with each run covering 3.3km.

ASP Karim Mukiibi urged fans to collaborate with the Police to ensure safety during the event.

“We want to have an incident free event and we as Police shall deploy heavily, but we request for the fans support to have a safe event,” Mukiibi noted.

Coca-Cola official George Malinga assured the motorsport governing body of his company’s commitment to support sports.

“We are committed to supporting motorsport and we are ready to support Motorsport for the whole season,” Malinga said.

This year’s calendar has 10 CRC and Sprint Championship events while the NRC are seven events.
