UPC to bury Obote's brother

“Mzee Akaki died on the 10 of this month at his home in Akokoro. The burial is scheduled for Saturday, January 18"

Uganda people's congress(UPC) yesterday announced the commencement of burial arrangements for Obote's elder brother Obadiah Akaki.  

Speaking during the party weekly press briefing, the Head of Media and Communications Faizo Muzeyi, said that the burial arrangements were on-going at the deceased's home in Akokoro, Apac district.

"Mzee Akaki died on the 10 of this month at his home in Akokoro. The burial arrangements are in high gear as the burial is scheduled for Saturday, January 18. We shall start with a funeral service and the other activities will follow," Muzeyi said.

Akaki, 96 died last week on Friday morning due to natural causes. According to family members, he died peacefully at his home in Akokoro.

Similarly, UPC also mourns their fallen member Mars Emokol the party secretary for Dakabela county in Soroti district who passed on January 14, (Tuesday).

According to the tentative program, Emokol will be laid to rest on January 16, (Thursday) in Tubur Sub-county.

Electoral activities

UPC, with regards to the recent confrontations between Kyadondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and police called upon citizens to embrace peaceful and calm political engagements.

"We call upon the general public to embrace dialogue in their activities ahead of 2021 general elections. We call upon the police and other law-abiding authorities to harmonize the recent situation and do that which brings peace," Muzeyi appealed.

Muzeyi added that as political parties gear up for internal elections, political actors and police should endeavor to follow guidelines as set by the electoral commission.
