EC meets Bobi Win over his blocked meetings

People Power leader also Kyadondo East legislature Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine arrived at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices amidst tight security.

Kyagulanyi went to EC on invitation from the EC Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama following his failed countrywide consultative meeting.  Police continuously blocked him despite being cleared by the EC to consult the electorates on his presidential bid.

 


He was flanked by a number of supporters but only five were allowed accesses to the EC offices.

Security was beefed up around the EC offices as his supports converged, waiting for the outcome of the meeting

 
Journalists were also denied access to the EC where the meeting is taking place blockage

MPs quiz finance ministry over interest rate

The parliamentary committee on finance has met officials from the finance ministry and Bank of Uganda over high-interest rates charged on various loans by commercial banks. The meeting took place Thursday at Parliament.  Legislators noted that the high-interest rates are hampering the growth of many businesses Ugandans are engaged in.

National Women Council petition Museveni over financial support

Ahead of this year's Women's Day celebrations slated for March 8, a section of National Women Council district leaders has met in Kampala to find the solution to their developmental challenges. The women petitioned President Yoweri Museveni to honour financial promises he made years ago. The women have vowed not to support the president if he fails to do so.
