After spending endless nights monitoring CCTV cameras around Nakivubo Channel in Kampala, a joint security team has managed to arrest at least 64 suspected criminals reported to have been terrorising the area.
 
The Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, told New Vision that the CCTV-guided operation was championed by the Kampala Central Police Station operation department led by Ivan Nduhura, Crime Intelligence team and Local Defence Unit officers.

"We were compelled to conduct this operation after we got evidence from our CCTV cameras, which captured some of these criminals stealing from people and later hiding in Nakivubo channel," he said.
 
Owoyesigyire added that exhibits, such as machetes, drugs and housebreaking implements were also recovered during the operation.
 
He also revealed that simple robbery charges have been preferred against all the suspects as they continue to gather more evidence, which will be used to pin them in Courts of law.
