Yes. Avocado promotes the growth of hair. It offers this by preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth.

Avocado can also be used to improve the condition of your hair by acting as a moisturizer for dry or damaged hair.

Vitamin deficiency can cause hair loss or hair to grow slowly. Avocados are high in vitamins B and E, which work at the cellular level to protect and strengthen hair. Vitamin B is essential for hair growth.

Vitamin E helps repair damage on the scalp, which may slow or prevent hair growing.

Hair loss may be a result of vitamin deficiency or of external stresses on your hair. Hair loss may occur when hair becomes dry and damaged from exposure to extreme heat, sun or cold. You may also contribute to hair loss and damaged hair by using chemically loaded hair products or styling tools such as hair dryers or curling irons.

Avocado conditioner and masks are an effective natural remedy for treating hair loss and improving the condition of your hair.

The good news is that Uganda is not short of avocado; only that capacity building in exploring the diversity of avocado varieties in Uganda and what each type is best suited for is what should be supported. The Hass variety of avocado which features as a small dark green fruit with a rough skin tends to be a very delicious variety due to its rich oil content. It yields a lot of oil which, when expressed from the dry darkened pulp, gives a well-balanced oil rich in vitamin E that contributes to the usefulness of this oil on the scalp. One may use the mashed pulp as a hair conditioner at home or in salons (before seating under a steamer) that appreciate natural products.

The usefulness of avocado in hairdressing is reflected by a diversity of imported avocado based hair products on our market.

For those interested in propagating the Hass variety, you may learn more from Kawanda Research Station, where there are model plantations.
