CECAFA: Uganda girls wallop Djibouti 11-0

Djibouti that has now conceded 25 goals in two games will have to pick themselves up before they face Burundi on Friday in their next game.

Uganda U-17 girls' team thrashed Djibouti 11-0 to move top of the round-robin event at the ongoing CECAFA U-17 Girls Tournament at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The victory saw Uganda make it two wins in two games, extending their tally to 14 goals.

Fauzia Najjemba notched a hat-trick before Juliet Nalukenge's double saw her extend her tally to five goals. Stella Musubika and Hadijah Nandago each added a brace before Kevin Nakachwa and Margret Kunihira also made it to the score sheet, as Uganda assumed top spot with maximum points (six) as opposed to Kenya and Tanzania who have four each.

The first-ever CECAFA U17 girls competition has attracted teams from Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Kenya, Eritrea  and Djibouti.

 Uganda has higher chances of walking away with the trophy after they recently won the same age-bracket competition during the COSAFA U-17 Girls event that was held in Mauritius.

 The CECAFA U17 Competition is among the tournaments that are sponsored by FIFA to rejuvenate women football in East Africa.

 In other matches played yesterday, Kenya drew 1-1 with Eritrea while Burundi played to a 3-3 draw with Tanzania
