Wizkid gives Kampala party goers a second dose of fun

Dec 06, 2019

WizKid took the crowd back in time a little bit with songs like Caro. Later, the crowd’s favorites like Brown Skin Girl, Daddy Yo and his latest, Joro.

After close to two years since Ugandans last saw Nigerian music star, WizKid, many partygoers were in luck last night at the Kololo Airstrip in Kampala as the Soco star graced the stage with energy amidst enthusiasm and anxiousness in the crowd.

Prior to Wizkid's appearance on stage, the mood was rather mind-numbing and generally uninspiring. Pictures of an almost empty venue at the airstrip started flying over social media platforms as late as 8:00 pm and this almost got many talking about a flopped show.

Well, this was Wizkid's show and not in anyone's wildest dreams was going to be a flop. By 9:00 pm, a cast of some of Uganda's current crème-de-la-crème artistes had already started stepping on stage.

Wizkid had earlier notified Ugandans that the show was going to be a dedication to the late Mowzey Radio and for that reason; Weasel stepped on stage to evoke memories of the Radio and Weasel duo.

He left the crowd singing along and feeling nostalgic about the performance. Radio was indeed felt alive at the show. John Blaq, another crowd favorite also brought an unrivaled touch of dancehall music on stage with hits Makanika and his latest, Maama Bulamu. By this time, the venue had already been thronged with overwhelming numbers.

Other artistes like Vinka and Fik Fameika also entertained the crowd with energetic performances. The much-anticipated act of the night, WizKid, stepped on stage a few minutes past 10:00 pm and without any further ado, the crowd was sent into uncontrollable screams that got the artiste excitement and energized.

WizKid took the crowd back in time a little bit with songs like Caro. Later, the crowd's favorites like Brown Skin Girl, Daddy Yo and his latest, Joro. WizKid has a unique way of connecting with the crowd and this, last night, was evident. He kept on pulling various dance moves as he sang along, something that wowed his fans. The show left many in awe.
