Kawempe stretch lead in Women Super League

The newly created league is intended to revamp the domestic competition and create revenue-generating avenues for women football.

Kawempe Muslim made it three wins in three games following their 2-0 victory over defending champion UCU Lady Cardinals in the FUFA Women Super League.

The victory saw Kawempe stretch their lead atop of the table standings to nine points.

Kawempe Muslim who was without their lead striker Juliet Nalukenge, who picked an injury saw Anita Namata and Margret Kunihira each score for the Kampala, based side.

Elsewhere, Fazila Ikwaput and Maggie Kayima were on target as Lady Doves beat Olila High 2-0 to continue piling more pressure on Kawempe.

The newly created league is intended to revamp the domestic competition and create revenue-generating avenues for women football.

The league consists of teams that finished in the top four positions last season with the last two at the end of the season relegated to the FUFA Women Elite League.

In a related development, they were also FUFA Women Elite League games played over the weekend. The second-tier consists of teams that finished outside the top four positions last season plus the newly promoted teams.
