Crested Cranes have qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing of CECAFA Senior Women Challenge Cup in Tanzania following their 1-0 victory over Ethiopia in Group B Tuesday at Chamazi stadium.

Fauzia Najjemba’s strike in the second half saw Cranes make it two wins in two games as they moved to six points with Kenya who thrashed Djibouti 12-0 in other group games.

Coach Faridah Bulega maintained the same winning line up that started and won comprehensively 13-0 against Djibouti at Chamazi Stadium on Sunday in the opening game.

Ethiopia who also gave Cranes a tough time failed to penetrate the well-commanded defence led by Shadia Nankya.

Uganda and Kenya who both qualified for the semifinals from group B will now faceoff on Thursday in the final game to decide which team tops the group.

Uganda beat Kenya 1-0 in the last edition something that gives them an advantage but the current Kenya team has improved a lot compared to the one that was beaten by Uganda.

Cranes finished runners up behind eventual winners Tanzania in the last edition in Rwanda. The two sides had the same number of points (seven points) on the last day of the competition but Tanzania won the competition because of a better goal difference.
