Mike Mutebi is favourite for coach of the year award

Mutebi who has won the accolade for the past three years, helped KCCA FC to lift the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda and the FUFA Super Cup.

KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi has a chance to win his fourth accolade for the coach of the year during the Airtel FUFA Awards.

Mutebi who has won the accolade for the past three years, helped KCCA FC to lift the  StarTimes Uganda Premier League, CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda and the FUFA Super Cup.

He vies for the accolade with Abdullah Mubiru and former Proline coach Shafik Bisaso.

Mubiru guided Uganda Cranes to the 2020 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), while Bisaso helped Proline FC to win the StarTimes FUFA Big League and the Stanbic Uganda Cup. He also helped his team beat Malawian side Masters Security on their maiden continual bow.

The glorious event will take place on December 14 at Speke Resort Munyonyo

The awards are aimed at honouring excellence for Ugandan footballers annually in a bid to raise the level of competition.

In the other category, the coaches in Women's football will have their own category for the first time.  The Women football coach of the year nominees include Ayub Khalifa, Oliver Mbekeka, and Fred Ndaula.

Ayub helped Kawempe Muslim Ladies to reach the FUFA Women Elite League playoffs and was also in charge of the Uganda U17 Girls' national team that won the maiden COSAFA U17 Championship. He also won several other trophies in FUFA sanctioned tournaments with his school.

Mbekeka led Lady Doves to two finals (FUFA Women Elite League and FUFA Women's Cup) while Ndaula helped Makerere University to clinch the FUFA Women's Cup, their first major title in history.

There will be other categories for the awards with the best Female and Male footballers on the night walking away with a grand prize of a car each.

KCCA FC duo of Allan Okello and Mustafa Kizza's are top performers for the male best player of the year.

The two were nominated alongside other players who included; Joel  Mutakubwa, Bashir Mutanda, Joel Madondo, Dan Sserunkuma,  Paul Mucureezi, Deogractius  Ojok, Bright  Anukani, Hillary Mukundane, Mustafa Kizza, Allan Kayiwa, Ivan Bogere, Shafik Kagimu, Saidi Kyeyune, Mike Mutyaba, Viane Ssekajjugo.

Juliet Nalukenge who guided Uganda to COSAFA U17 Championship is among the nominees for the female player of the year. Others are Fauzia Najjemba, Daisy Nakaziro, Lillian Mutuuzo, Hasifah Nassuna,, Ruth Aturo,Leticia Nabbosa, Margaret Kunihira, Shadia Nankya, Amina Nababi, Shamirah Nalujja, Maureen Kinavudori.
