KCCA FC young defender Samuel Kato gets his first national team summoning. He is among the 21 players summoned by Uganda Cranes Head coach Jonathan McKinstry for a regional tour match against North Eastern Ugandan region to be played in Katakwi on Saturday.
 
Kato made his maiden appearance at KCCA FC during the Cecafa tournament in Rwanda earlier this year against Tanzanian Giants Azam FC. Since then the defender who hails from Rwanda by origin but Ugandan by birth has continued to shine game after game under Coach Mike Mutebi.
 
It is no doubt that given his excellent progress in the games, he has featured for the Lugogo based football club, Coach McKinstry decided to give him a chance.
 
Of the 21 summoned players, there are five players (Allan Okello, Halid Lwaliwa, Fahad Bayo, Nicholas Kasozi and Charles Lukwago) who were summoned for the Africa Cup of nations qualifiers against Burkina Faso and Malawi this month.
 
McKinstry, therefore, hopes to use this game to assess their performance ahead of the two mentioned fixtures.
 
This regional tour match is aimed at bringing the team closer to the fans in these regionals who can hardly afford to come to watch them play at Namboole stadium.
 
The 21 players are;
 
Goalkeepers; (Charles Lukwago, and James Alitho)
 
Defenders,  (Paul Willa, Halid Lwalilwa , Mustafa Kizza , John Revita , Samuel Kato, Paul Mbowa)
 
Midfielders ,( Nicolas Kasozi,  Shafiq Kagimu, Hassan Senyonjo, Muzamiru Mutyaba , Allan Okello, Bright, Joachim Ojera , Vianne Sekajugo, Allan Kayiwa) ,
 
Forwards, (Joel Madondo, Fahad Bayo, Ashraf Mandela, and Edrisa Lubega)
