Uganda to showcase products at China Import Expo

Uganda is among the many African countries expected to showcase it’s products to the 1.4bn Chinese market

 
Thousands of exhibitors from all over the world have arrived at Shanghai for the second China International Import Expo (CIIE).
 
Uganda is among the many African countries expected to showcase it's products to the 1.4bn Chinese market.
 
The expo is part of Chinese Government strategies to showcase its products to the world and also giving other countries an opportunity to persuade the Chinese people.
 
Uganda's deputy ambassador to China Henry Mayega is already in Shanghai to participate in the expo.
 
"We are aiming to vigorously exhibit Uganda's products, for example, coffee, spices, red chili, tea, flowers & fish," Ambassador Mayega told New Vision.
 
China is currently the main source of Foreign Direct Investment and one of the big trade partners whose balance of trade favors it, however.
 
Mayega said the products Uganda will showcase will be a chance to bridge this gap.
 
"It's going to be big-time Introduction of those products to the Chinese market," Mayega said.
 
Uganda is also participating in the expo through companies accredited by the Uganda Export Promotions Board. Products like coffee, brew, horn products, Cassava flour, and other agricultural products will be on the stalls at the expo.
 
The expo is beginning November 5 to 10, 2019 will help countries sell to each other.
 
It is expected to feature themes ranging from Sci-tech, Automobile, High-end Equipment & Intelligent Manufacturing, Medical Equipment & Health Care Products, Quality Life, Trade in Services, and Food & Agricultural Products.
 
Also, Huawei's fifth-generation (5G) network equipment and all kinds of Artificial Intelligence products are expected to dominate the expo.
 
According to Chinese media, President Xi Jinping will preside over the opening ceremony and delivery a speech.
 
Uganda has been participating in all exhibitions organized in China like the International Horticultural Exhibition held in Yanqing district of Beijing and the 4th China-Arab Expo held in Yinchuan, Ningxia province this year.
