Vipers open up a four-point lead at the top

Kyetume managed to pick up a consolation in the 55th minute following Robert Ssentongo’s strike after Vipers defenders failed to clear a loose ball.

Vipers defeated Kyetume 2-1 today at Namboole to open a four-point lead in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table standings.
 
The victory saw Vipers extend their unbeaten in the league to nine games as they moved to 24 points, four above second-placed BUL.
 
Vipers who were impressive in the first minutes of the game saw their striker Fahad Bayo open the lead in the fifth minute with a brilliant header off Bashir Asiku's cross. Bayo extended his tally to the scoring chart to seven goals.
 
Edward Golola‘s side who looked a threat to Kyetume‘s defence were awarded a penalty kick in the 14th minute after Bayo was brought down by Kyetume's Benon Tahomera before Dan Sserunkuma who return to the team from an injury stepped up to take it.

Elsewhere, Express woes continued as they went down 2-1 to Busoga United at Wankulukuku stadium. The defeat leaves coach George Ssimwogerere under a lot of pressure as his side has now gone for two consecutive games without a win.
 
Joel Madondo and Boban Zirintusa each had a goal for the visitors, while Frank Kalanda was on target for Express
 
At Lugogo, Pius Kaggwa and Ben Ocen were on target as Police came from a goal down to defeat Wakiso Giants 2-1.  Viane Ssekajugo had earlier opened a lead for Wakiso.
 
In Buikwe, BUL played to 1-1 draw with Bright Stars at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
