Canicious Mugisha, Hoima's district officer in charge of traffic police, identified the deceased as Daphine Kabahumuza and Bridget Tusabe, who were students of S4 and S2 respectively, and a night watchman- Fred Angudia.
Comfort Murungi, 16, survived with serious injuries and was by press time still admitted at Hoima hospital in critical condition.
Another person yet to be identified is hospitalized after having been run over by the same speeding car.
The accident occurred along the Hoima-Kaiso -Tonya road in Hoima municipality on Tuesday evening.
Mugisha explained that the vehicle first hit the night watchman who was riding on a motorcycle registration number UDD 413D; who lost control and then knocked the two students and Mugisha (who is still admitted); who were walking, alongside the road.
The school is located a few meters along the neatly paved Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya road (highway) which was constructed to assist oil production.
Eyewitnesses identified the speeding car as a Double Cabin Vehicle, Registration Number UBF 040W that was heading to Hoima town. They were all heading in the same direction. The vehicle is at the police station, and the female driver is on the run.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to hospital for postmortem as investigations into the cause of the accident have been initiated.
Mugisha attributes the accident to speeding. He says, the driver seems to have lost control, forcing the car to veer off the road and knocked the students and the night watchman.
