Africa Netball Cup: She Cranes see off Kenya

The tournament has been a roller coaster of emotions for the girls who matched the host’s South Africa.

Uganda 61 Kenya 42

Malawi 71 Zimbabwe 46

Lesotho 32 Zambia 68

It may not have been the result they wanted but Coach Rashid Mubiru is proud of Uganda's third-place finish at the Africa Netball cup in Cape Town South Africa.

The She Cranes bounced back from two losses in a row to comfortably defeat neighbours Kenya by 61-42 goals on Tuesday afternoon.  This result capped off what has been five days of high octane netball in which they collected a mixed bag of results.

"We managed to be number three in Africa which is not bad because we brought some young girls," Mubiru said.

The tournament has been a rollercoaster of emotions for the girls who matched the host's South Africa only to lose in the fourth quarter by 50-47 and also allowing careless errors derail them against Malawi.

For the youthful side, this is a clear case of living and learning and if they continue with the competitiveness, they can only improve.

In South Africa, they faced a brick wall of a team that is well drilled in all departments and they were made to pay for all their errors. Malawi that finished ahead of Uganda is similar to South Africa and they used their experience thoroughly whenever errors cropped into the Uganda game.

At the end of the day regardless of the result, Mubiru will take satisfaction from knowing, the future is bright and the kids are alright.
