Museveni praises RCC Nabukenya on development

OBITUARY

KAMPALA - President Yoweri Museveni has paid tribute to Deborah Mercy Nabukenya, the former Resident City Commissioner of Kawempe Division, who died at Mengo Hospital on Tuesday (September 24) at the age of 34.

The President described Nabukenya as a firm and committed NRM cadre, who exhibited admirable patriotism as she executed her duties. "She was young but deeply devoted to her work. She worked hard to improve the conditions of young people, women, and vulnerable people. The championed the respective initiatives that the NRM government put in place to skill the youth. We appreciate her significant contribution to the socio-economic transformation of the country."

President Museveni's message was delivered by the Minister for the Presidency, Hon Esther Mbayo, during the funeral service for Nabukenya at All Saints' Cathedral, Kampala on Thursday (September 26).

Mbayo also delivered sh10m, which President Museveni donated towards the education of Nabukenya's two young boys.

The funeral service was presided over by Rev Gideon Muhima, an associate priest at the Cathedral, who also spoke highly of Nabukenya's disposition of truth and right consciousness.

Deborah Mercy Nabukenya, who President Museveni named as the Resident District Commissioner for Kawempe Division in 2014, was the daughter of Joy Nsamba and Rev George William Nsamba. She is survived by her husband, Wessy Kitto and two children.

She will be buried tomorrow (Friday, September 27) at Kabira, in Mpigi district.
