Bakkabulindi praises swimmer Kirabo Namutebi

He gave Kirabo US$200 for helping Uganda finish 4th place at the annual event that attracted 42 countries.

 
 
The minister of state for sports Charles Bakkabulindi has hailed parents for supporting their children who have been representing Uganda in swimming competitions at home and abroad.
 
He also thanked the national junior swimming team for putting up a spirited fight in Tunisia last week where Kirabo Namutebi won two gold medals and one silver.
 
"Our strategy is not only to focus on the senior teams but also the juniors. We shall put swimming on the priority sports in the country," Bakkabulindi said.
 
He gave Kirabo US$200 for helping Uganda finish 4th place at the annual event that attracted 42 countries.
 
He promised to forward the athletes' names before Parliament and also to State House for an official presidential handshake.
 
He also promised to include swimmers on the monthly stipend where the State House gives medal winners cash.
 
NCS general secretary Dr. Bernard Ogwel said the government is in process of constructing a 50-meter pool at Lugogo in their expansion plan approved by the government.
