Cricket and Victoria University sign partnership

Cricket players have got the chance to get academic scholarships from Victoria University.
 
This is after the university signed a partnership with the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) that will see 10 students get partial scholarships annually.
 
The partnership will also enable the university to carry out research and analysis about the sport before publishing the report that will help UCA get solutions to some of the challenges in the development of the sport.
 
"We are delighted to partner with UCA and as a university, we are committed to helping UCA get solutions to high performance in the sport," University Vice-chancellor Krishna Sharma said.
 
"There are so many technics that help improve performance and through research, we are confident solutions will be got to improved performance," he added.
 
He explained that sports is scientific and they will be developing policies that do a lot of research and inform the federation about the findings to help improve on performance.
 
UCA chairman Bashir Nasasira said the association is much grateful for the Victoria University gesture.
 
"We are very grateful to Victoria University because this partnership is going beyond just sports. The short courses and scholarships will shape the lives of cricketers even after their active days in the sport." Nasasira noted
 
"We shall maintain a high level of integrity in the process of selecting who deserves the scholarship so that the beneficiaries are the eligible persons," he added.
