Museveni in Tanzania for working visit

During his stay in neighbouring Tanzania, President Museveni and his host President John Pombe Magufuli are to launch the Uganda-Tanzania Business Forum, among other activities.

President Yoweri Museveni is in Tanzanian city Dar-es-Salaam for a working visit, fresh from his trip to South Africa.

During his stay in neighbouring Tanzania, the Ugandan leader and his host, President John Pombe Magufuli will officiate at the inauguration ceremonies of the Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre and the launching of the Uganda-Tanzania Business Forum.

The business forum is under way at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in the commercial port city.

Museveni and his wife Janet, who is also the education and sports minister, arrived in Dar-es-Salaam Thursday evening from Cape Town, where they had been attending the World Economic Forum Conference.

They were received at Julius Nyerere International Airport by Tanzania's defence and national service minister Dr. Hussein Mwinyi and Prof. Joyce Ndalichako, the the minister of education, science, technonoloy and vocational training.

The Ugandan contingent at the airport included public service minister Muruli Mukasa, Uganda's High Commissioner to Tanzania, Richard Kabonero and the defence attaché to Tanzania, Maj. Gen. Steven Kashaka.

The Uganda-Tanzania Business Forum is a first of its kind and is for and led by the private sector.

It is an opportunity for businesses to share their experiences, explore investment opportunities across the borders, create business to business networks.

Organisers say it is also a chance for business people to identify and discuss challenges before the heads of state, government ministers and policy makers.
