Today in History: Kabaka Mutebi weds

MARRIAGE   WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II weds  Lady Sylvia Nagginda in what was billed Uganda's wedding of the millennium. The couple exchanged their wedding vows at Namirembe Cathedral, in a grand ceremony presided over by then-Archbishop Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo on August 27, 1999.

Guests who included Uganda's notables and royals from all over the world were later hosted at a glamorous reception at the royal palace at Lubiri in Mengo, Kampala. The couple is blessed with a daughter Princess Katrina Ssangalyambogo born in 2001. The Kabaka and Nabagareka are celebrating their 20th anniversary today.
