Uganda set for Dubai Expo 2020

According to Kyambadde over 190 countries are expected to participate in the exposition.

DUBAI-The state minister of trade, industry and cooperatives Hon.Amelia Kyambadde has guaranteed Ugandans that they are set to participate in the expo 2020 Dubai that is slated to take place in Dubai United Arab Emirates from 20th October 2020 to 10th April 2021.

The main objective of Uganda's participation in the expo is to get exposure and linking the Ugandan business community to the international business community as well as promoting tourism.

According to Kyambadde over 190 countries are expected to participate in the exposition.

This will be the first international exposition to be held in the Middle East region it is, therefore, a platform for Uganda to showcase its trade, investment and tourism potential to the Middle East market as a whole."Kyambadde said.

She added that through the expo Uganda will create linkages in Uganda and the participating countries.

"Uganda's top five export products to the UAE were go1d, fish, fruits and vegetables, oilseeds and Ugandans will therefore focus on promoting coffee, fruits tea, vegetables following a strategic export of products in the Middle East region that accounted for 19 percent of the country's' formal merchandise exports tallying to US$ 599 million which is equivalent to 90% of revenue coming from UAE unaided". she said

She revealed that Uganda has received support from the Expo organisers, UAE, in the form of Pavilion construction.

"The construction is completed and the structure shall be handed over for the second phase of branding, decoration, and beautification in October 2019," Kyambadde said.

The last World Expo was held in Milan the capital of Italy, Since the 1850s, world expos have been held after every five years to gather nations dedicated to finding solutions to pressing challenges including issues of trade and development.
