KAMPALA - Life Ministry Uganda National Director Dr. Dickson Obwoya has appealed to Christian leaders to commit themselves as societal change agents.

Obwoya noted that whereas 88% of Ugandans are Christians, corruption and other evils continue to spread like wildfire.

Obwoya meeting members of LIFE Ministry Uganda and IGNITE Uganda in Kampala  yesterday said its high time, Christian leaders used their positions and space on pulpits, to inculcate Christian values to those that they lead.

"It is important that we pay attention to what is happening in our nation today. If we want the future to be bright, the leaders must come out, using biblical principles and values of honesty, integrity, faithfulness and praying to change the people they lead," he said.

"Otherwise If we don't deal with the evils now, we are going to pay a big price in the future. We are calling on everyone to do something and change the hearts of the people they work with," he said.

The meeting brought together marketplace influencers in the business community, professionals and executives to commit themselves to give leadership, influence, finances, and expertise based on biblical principals in order to transform Uganda beginning from their respective workplaces.

As a result, Obwoya said that is why IGNITE Uganda, a none denominational Christian organization has launched an exclusive marketplace initiative seeking to empower market leaders to commit themselves to give leadership, influence, finances, and expertise as societal change agents.

"IGNITE Uganda is driven by the realization that every Christian is in fulltime ministry to help fulfill the great commission. Therefore we are mobilizing marketplace leaders in the seven key domains of society- family, church, education, business, media, art, entertainment and government to develop an ongoing engagement with their respective domains to the end that those domains will be transformed based on biblical values and principals," Obwoya explained.

Michael Segwaya, chairperson IGNITE Uganda informed the meeting that as a precursor to a long term engagement,  IGNITE Uganda has also organized a residential marketplace leaders' conference in October 2019 at the Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel to inspire leaders to join forces in helping transform Uganda by investing their leadership, influence, finances and expertise in their respective market places.

"The leaders will hear first-hand marketplace transformational stories from other nations including Kenya and Indonesia," said Segwaya

Together, the leaders will discover the big picture of their life purpose and how to maximize their influence for an enduring legacy. The conference will also provide leaders with opportunities to cross-pollinate and network towards influencing the seven domains of society in Uganda.
