Babirye Diana and Kato Shadrack with their dad Ssalongo Samuel Sseemwendo
Ever since they came, our lives changed starting from the source of income, extending to all aspects of our family.
Every day, I wake up to go for work, I rarely get out of the house before the twins knocking on the bedroom door to greet me and I take this as a blessing because.
The twins, Diana Babirye and Kato Shadraq are pupils of Biina Church of Uganda Primary School. They are in Primary Four and 11 years old.
Their father Ssalongo Samuel Ssemwendo, a science teacher at Luzira Secondary School, says that he is very proud of his children.
"There are days when I totally do not have money and wonder how the family is going to survive, but Babirye is quick to tell me how God will provide for us," he said.
He added: "I have always believed in my children because they are angels and God has used them to provide for the family. Sometimes, people bring things just because of them."
Semwendo says despite the fact that his family values tradition so much, when he bore his twins, she did not do any ritual for them and they have grown up very well.
"I never took them for rituals and nothing happened. They were instead taken to church and my pastor prayed for them at baptism," says Semwendo.
The twins love matooke, rice, and chicken as their best food.
Their free time, Babirye loves cuddling her dolls and change their hairstyle while Kato loves making toys out of wires, and mimicking cartoon movies he watches on television.
The twins are in the same class and share the desk which is at the second row facing right the blackboard.
Babirye says there is a boy who sits between them, although she loves sitting with her brother which is done is some subjects.
"I understand what the teacher is teaching when I am seated near my brother."
Asked how the twins select their friends, they are quick to say that Kato's friends are Babirye's friends too and the vice versa.
On August 25, twins will gather at Namboole for the twins festival, which has become a major ceremony in the last three years.
