Six arrested over landlord's murder in Mityana

The attack and murder occurred when the victim was distributing invitation letters to tenants/squatters for a meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday

A total of six suspects have been arrested in connection with the suspected murder of their landlord, Mohamed Kamada Kimbugwe, 50, of Minaana, Tamu division in Mityana Municipality.

Kimbugwe was attacked and killed on Wednesday after he had issued invitation letters to eight households built on his land in Minaana Village, where he also lived.

The land in dispute measures one square mile covering four villages of Minaana, Kabule, Galabi and Kamuvole all located in Tami division, Mityana Municipality. 

On Monday, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the suspects in custody include Ibra Muyingo the LC1 chairman, his vice only identified as Senyanja and the defence secretary John Kasule.

Others are members of one family who Enanga identified as John Kulumba Snr, his wife and son John Kulumba Jnr.

Enanga said the Police was still searching for more suspects currently on the run including Constantino Musisi aka Quiba, Lawrence Muduse Kayongo and his two sons Willy Kayongo and Serwanga Kayongo.

According to Enanga, the attack and murder occurred when the victim (now deceased), was distributing invitation letters to tenants/squatters for a meeting that was scheduled for today (Tuesday).

Before Kimbugwe's death the guest of honour for the meeting was the minister of state for Lands, Persis Namuaganza.
