Kamya asked to explain resignations at KCCA

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, has given Kampala Minister Beti Kamya, up to Thursday next week to explain to Parliament why Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) staff members at the director level, are resigning from their jobs.

Kadaga's directive followed a matter of national concern raised by Mukono Municipality Betty Nambooze, who during a parliamentary sitting on Wednesday, demanded that government explains to Parliament why the majority of the directors at KCCA had resigned their jobs.

Sighting Jennifer Musisi, the former Executive Director KCCA and her deputy, Nambooze said most of the directors had resigned without proper explanation.

"Madam Speaker let it be known that apart from the director, directorate of audit, all the other KCCA directors have resigned together with their deputies. It is difficult to know why these directors are resigning.

First, the KCCA jobs are high paying jobs and you wouldn't expect people to leave such employment," Nambooze said.

She said most of the directors are now in an acting capacity, including the Executive Director Eng. Andrew Kitaka.

It is against this background that Kadaga directed Kamya to explain to the House the increasing resignation of the directors such as the one for legal and education among other directorates.

 "The Minister for KCCA is required to come here and brief the House and the entire country the exact situation at KCCA in particular about the directors in different directorates at KCCA," she said.
