KAMPALA - Technology influences the way of life. And art, being one of life's biggest facets, is not exempted, for, like many things, art has evolved with the advancement of technology.
In today's world where many things can be accomplished on just a click of a phone, it was fascinating to see youth create art pieces on their phones.
The youth turned up at Fame Lounge on Saturday afternoon armed with their smart mobile phones to show off their art skills and creativity.
The contest, which was courtesy of the ‘Stylus' App on the Infinix NOTE6 mobile, attracted various artists drawing portraits on their phone in a fun ambiance. Five artists stood out and competed among themselves.
The event, dubbed Campus X Club, was a party where art lovers and digital freaks converged to interact and have fun. Eats and drinks were pretty. Music capped the ambiance for folks to groove the afternoon away.
Dance and music performances from youth entertained revellers. Urban TV's comedian Tumu Siime was the icing on the cake, unleashing a buffet of jokes to tickle everyone.
With a portrait of a young stylish man, Jonas Rayme won the contest, walking away with a brand new NOTE6 smartphone.
"This was a wonderful experience for me. It is amazing to draw something artistic on a phone. It is not only fun but gives convenience to express my creativity," Rayme said.
"This is the future of art. We no longer need art books, pencils, and crayons to make art pieces with this kind of technology," he explained, describing the technology as spectacular.
Other participants won various goodies like power banks, wireless earphones, Bluetooth speakers, table lamps, and smartwatches.
