Asaba find positives from Elgon Cup loss

With the music booming loudly and patrons gearing up for a long night of merry making at Kyadondo Rugby club, the first few minutes following Uganda's loss to Kenya in the Elgon Cup on Saturday for those on the pitch looked and felt like a funeral.

After losing a tightly contested tie and the elusive title to the Kenyans, most players went down in a heap and they looked like they were running on empty.

They did their best to put on brave faces and fielding as many questions as the media pelted them with.

The pain was in plain sight so much so that national team coach Robert Sseguya almost broke down during his media interview.

Uganda who had come into this tie with optimism was bitterly disappointed by the results which left everyone wondering when the team would win the coveted title again.

The herculean effort put in by the boys in the end counted for nought but lucky for him some senior players like Brian Asaba found some positives.

"In the past, Kenya used to blow us away but now our matches are very close. That's a positive I can take forward," Asaba told New Vision.

That is an attitude that will serve the team well if they aim to complete a power shift in the region.
