Elgon Cup

A tough contest is expected as Uganda takes on Kenya in the return leg of the Elgon Cup at Kyadondo rugby ground in Kampala today.

Uganda heads into the game with a three-point lead in a bid to reclaim the title they last won in 2015.

The Rugby Cranes who beat Kenya 16-13 in Kisumu recently, face a difficult task as Kenyan coach Paul Odera has beefed up his side with eight changes including a call up of decorated back-row star Andrew Amonde, full back Jacob Ojee, perfect ball carrier Melvin Thairu and Fidel Oloo onto the squad.

“We learnt lessons from the first leg and the new changes bring experience on the team and we are optimistic that we shall give our hosts a good run,” Odera said on Friday.

However, his counterpart Robert Sseguya is all set for the challenge.

“We as the coaches have done our part, they rest is for the boys. We have the confidence in them and I am quite sure that they will deliver,” he said.

“We are going for points to use every opportunity to secure points and stretch our lead,” added Sseguya.

With Cranes Ivan Magomu, Aaron Ofoywroth and Pius Ogena, Philip Wokorach, and Michael Wokorach in fine form, Kenya will have to sweat for a positive result
