KAMPALA - In the bid, to restore their lost glory, Vipers have intensified their preparations for the upcoming new season.

For starters, head coach Michael Nam Ouma, team physiotherapist, Mathius Kasagga and Patrick Wakira, the sports data analyst have subjected their players to a check technically, tactically and psychologically before they can embark on any pre-season games.

‘These tests will help players to avoid injuries during the season and prepare them psychologically in both training and competitive matches," Ouma stated.

The first set of exercises included speed, endurance and fitness drills. The players were also put to a drill to test the power and explosiveness of the lower part of the body, the thighs, and calf to be specific.

Ouma also hinted on lining up different programmes that help players to regain their fitness levels before the new season kickoffs.

"We hope to go the gym, swimming and also train on various surfaces and a number of friendly matches so as to get the best from the squad," he added.

Vipers finished second, last season and they will be hoping to bounce back strongly to challenge the likes of league champions KCCA FC, and URA FC among others.

To achieve this, Venoms have so far signed Allan Kayiwa, Paul Willa and Siraje Sentuma to beef up their squad. However, more new players are expected to join the Kitende based side.
