Usually when people have chronic pain around their legs or muscles, many opt for a message to relax their muscles and also to relax their bodies as well, but experts say their things you ought to do before you go for a massage else you get in trouble like Dr. Vincent Karuhanga did.
 
His story
 
After noticing that other people were working out, Dr. Vincent Karuhanga decided to go jogging so as to keep fit.
 
After jogging, he decided to go for a massage to relax his muscles and also pass time, little did he know that the message he was getting would turn his life around.
 
“After a few minutes of having my leg massaged, I started feeling pain in the lower part of my leg and the pain seemed not to reduce. The more they massage the leg the more pain I felt, which forced me to seek medical attention immediately, “said Dr. Karuhanga.

“Quickly I rushed to the hospital and my doctors carried out tests and an x-ray was done only to realize that during the massage fats moved and blocked a vein in my leg,” says Dr. Karuhanga.
 
He adds that the situation became worse that in the end, he had to go to China for medical attention where his leg was amputated.
 
To date, he seems not to know why he went for a massage before being sure, he needed one. He urges people out there to consider the following before they go for a massage.
 
Dr. Karuhanga notes that it’s important that before one goes for a massage, they check for diabetes so that they are aware of the level of their blood sugars. Anything can trigger an increase in sugar levels, especially for diabetic patients.
 
He notes that some people don’t even know if they are diabetic or not so in case you just have a massage you might get in trouble.
 
He adds that also checking your pressure to know your cholesterol levels is very important. Fats usually move in blood and in case they block a vein, you definitely get health problems.
 
Dr. Steven Mukasa from St Vincent hospital agrees with Dr. Vincent. He notes that people need to also check for blood clots before they have their bodies massaged.
 
Blood clots also move in the body and in case one gest to know, that they have blood clots and where they are, then they become aware of where to massage.
 
He urges people to always look for professionals to have body massage done one them. These know which parts of the body that should be massaged, how and why.
 
Why people go for massage
 
According to Brian Ssemanda therapist Mukwano courts, their different types of massage and people come with different issues and different massage is done to them using different oils. The types of massage are Deep tissue massage, Swedish massage among others and all these are done using a different massage.
 
“Much as some people do it for fun, massage is medicine not for just relaxing muscles but healing the body depending on what the therapist is dealing with.
 
Ssemanda notes that no matter the type of massage one wants, it’s important that he gets it done by professionals else they get complications either during the massage or even after.
 
He notes that before one has a massage done, it is better that you eat not too much and if possible exercise so that your body gets in a relaxing mood before you actually get down to have that massage done.
 
When should you go for a massage
 
Alex Butungi a yoga trainer notes that it’s important to exercise or work out, the same way it is for one to get a massage. “Let’s make it a routine to have our bodies massaged and lets not wait for a crisis then have a massage done on us, “he adds.
 
However, Ssemanda notes that people with depression, stress, suffering from insomnia and those with body pain can consider having a massage to help deal with their situation.
