Desabre wary of Egypt's attacking prowess

The Egyptians sealed a place in the last 16 after an impressive 2-0 win over DR Congo but are not taking this game lightly

If there's anyone in the Cranes camp who knows very well the ability of Egypt's attack, that is Uganda Cranes' Sebastien Desabre.

The Frenchman spent some good time in Egypt coaching Ismaily Football Club.

In preparation ahead of the Egypt game on Sunday, Desabre is looking forward to make some changes, especially in defence in a bid to make it stronger to avoid defeat in the last game against the hosts Egypt.

The good news coming in from camp is that Murushid Jjuuko resumed training at Arab Contractors stadium in Cairo on Friday.

The team gave away so many chances in a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe on Thursday.

While addressing the media last Wednesday immediately after the Zimbabwe game, Desabre hinted on plans to have Jjuuko back in the starting line-up to partner Hassan Wasswa in the heart of the defence.

Against Zimbabwe, Ronald Mukiibi replaced Jjuuko partnering Wasswa in the centre of the defence and Brevis Mugabi who was on the right side struggled for the large part of the game.

"I think we need Jjuuko back in the team because with him in the team, the defence looks better," said Desabre.

In the last two training sessions after the Zimbabwe game, Jjuuko looked sharp which gives an impression that he is ready to reclaim his place in the starting eleven.

But reasons for Jjuuko absence during the Zimbabwe game are not clear. At first, news coming in from camp indicated to health (stomach problems) which was contrary to what the coach told the journalists that he rested him after he got a yellow card in the 2-0 win over DR Congo.

Apart from the defence, the midfield partnership of Mike Azira and Khalid Aucho also looked disjointed, struggling to handle the Zimbabweans and tomorrow the team comes up against a team with better line up going forward in Mohamed Salah, Trézéguet and Marwan Mohsen.

The Egyptians sealed a place in the last 16 after an impressive 2-0 win over DR Congo but are not taking this game lightly as they look forward to finishing top of group A in a bid to avoid a stronger side in the knock-out stage.

The winner between Pharaohs and the Cranes will automatically finish top of group A although a draw is enough for Egypt to top the group.

A draw is enough for Uganda to qualify automatically as runners up in group A which will pit them against Senegal who are likely to finish second in group B after losing 1-0 to Algeria on Thursday.

But Uganda Cranes can still sail through in third position if they lose against Egypt provided Zimbabwe tames DR Congo in the other last group encounter tomorrow.
