To most people today, vintage cars look old fashioned to them that many prefer the new cars but little do they know that vintage is elegant.

Those who love vintage cars, have taken their time, money and modified them and today they are overwhelmed by the returns.

Joseph Mukiibi a mechanic is one person who loves vintage cars and whenever he finds any, he takes time to find out if it's up for sale and if so, he quickly buys it and works on it to ensure that he puts it back on the road.

Mukiibi notes that people who trash vintage cars do not know the gold they hold and those who know treat them with maximum care and attention.

Innocent Nguyo, a Kenyan is another motorist who loves vintage cars that he has an eye for them and in case he comes across any, he never hesitates to buy it no matter the cost.

"Most people have turned them into scrap and others use them as playing areas for their children little do they know that if modified, they can be used to make money," says Nguyo.

He adds that he has acquired so many vintage cars that had been abandoned by owners especially the Kombi's and today he has modified them to their original look and he is earning from them. But one wonders, what can one use a vintage car for.

Experts note that these cars are rarely on the road but it doesn't mean that they have been phased out, they still exist and owners are surely making good use of them in different ways.

Hire to people with events
John Baptist Nuwagaba, the chairman for the association of vintage cars notes that most vintage cars are hired out to people with functions like weddings among others and this alone can fetch the owner of the vintage car a lot of money.

He says people like Wazzir Kakoza have invested in modifying vintage cars just to have them hired for events. In turn, they have employed themselves and also employed others.

Hire them out to tourists
Mukiibi says his cars usually attract tourists to come and have a ride because most of them think they have been phased out but when they find them, they get excited and in the end use them to tour the Pearl of Africa. This, in the end, brings in income for the car owner making a vintage car very important today.

Contest in the Vintage Auto Show
Niwagaba notes that working on your vintage car will also allow you to participate in the Vintage and Auto Show car event where all people with vintage and classic cars come together and celebrate these cars and also show the rest of the world that these cars still exist.

Here if your car meets all the standards required, it might emerge the winner and prizes given to the best cars. Still, this comes with money which will be given to you, "adds Niwagaba.

Drive it around
Much as they are feared for being expensive in terms of fuel consumption, it wouldn't hurt if one invests in having a ride with his family in a vintage car.

Niwagaba notes that their people who hire these cars when they are going out with their families and to such people spending is just okay.

Besides that even if you don't get people to hire it, it doesn't make sense to modify a vintage car and keep it in the museum. Experts say cars are meant to be driven not to be kept. Keeping it can make it get damaged slowly so drive it.

Create a museum but don't keep cars idle
Wazzir  Kakoza who has invested in modifying vintage cars notes that having many has made his garage look more like a museum for vintage and classic cars. People come with their children just to have a lot at vintage cars so that the young generation can have a picture or a look at how old cars that their grandparents once owned looked like.

"For this, I at times charge a fee and some go ahead and prefer to have a ride in the cars which still fetches me some money," he says
