Silverfin Academy Pentathlon on this weekend

Jun 22, 2019

Swimmers from Altona, Kampala Aquatic, Sailfish, Gliders, Olympia, Supra, Baseline, and Blue Marines are also expected to participate.

It is believed that swimmers' personal best times are achieved in competitions rather than in training.

It is for that reason that hundreds of swimmers from various clubs take to the Gems Cambridge International School on Saturday to compete in the Silverfin Academy Pentathlon.

The pentathlon is a five-event race in which all participating athletes compete in four strokes in the equal distance and in the 100 meters individual medley, with swimmers striving for self-improvement.

It presents an opportunity for swimmers to routinely test their own performance and stroke in a competitive environment while offering coaches a platform to monitor and asses their swimmers and tailor training programs according to the performances.

Dolphins' Shalom Birungi will look to better her time in the Pentathlon

Silverfin Academy the hosts will field swimmers like Raya Angemi, Yonah Lumonya, Karla Mugisha, Ampaire Namanya, and Mercedes Mwebeiha among others who will take on their opponents from the Dolphins and Seals, that have dominated in a previous similar competition.

The Dolphins will have Jordan Ssamula, Ethan Ssengooba, Daniel Nuwagaba, Karima Katemba, and Pendo Kaumi as some of the swimmers to look out for while the Seals will have Amelia Mudanye, Natalie Lutalo, Francesco Kagugube, Yalonda Daya and Alexis Kituuka among others looking to better their times.

Swimmers from Altona, Kampala Aquatic, Sailfish, Gliders, Olympia, Supra, Baseline,  and Blue Marines are also expected to participate.
