According to Uganda Red Cross Society, over 150 houses were destroyed, five people killed and over 50 are still missing.

According to the office of the Prime Minister (disaster preparedness and management department) there was destruction of property as a result of the landslides. A team from OPM has been sent on the ground to establish the facts.

The government started resettling the first batch of the survivors of the October 11, 2018 landslides in same area to Bulambuli Resettlement two weeks ago on May 19, 2019.

In the first phase, 101 houses have been built, out of a planned 900 houses. In total, over 100,000 people living precariously on the slopes of Mount Elgon are estimated to be at great danger and requiring relocation.

Those who have not been moved yet have been advised to leave the dangerous locations and seek shelter from friends or relatives who are in less risky locations, especially during the rainy season.

In October last year, Bududa faced the same fate of landlsides when scores were killed a "massive landslide" after heavy rains.
