Nsibambi succumbed to blood clot

During the requiem service held at Namirembe Cathedral on Tuesday morning, speaker after speaker paid glowing tribute to the late.

As the people share their memories about the longest serving prime minister of Uganda Apolo Nsibambi, a doctor who treated him says he died of blood clot, also known as pulmonary embolism.

This is defined as the blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in the lungs.

 
He says Nsibambi had had prostate cancer which was treated successfully.

 

Nsibambi died at his home in Bulange Zone, Rubaga Division in Kampala.

His daughters described him as a loving father, while his wife, Esther appreciated the clergy for being supportive during this time.

The service was attended by politicians, including the Vice-president Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Prime minister Ruhakana Rugunda, former FDC leader Dr. Kizza Besigye, MPs and officials from Mengo.
