The Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago and the acting Executive Director Andrew Kitaka have implored KCCA FC players to work hard and win the CAF Champions League.

"After playing in Champions League and playing in the group stages, we should now start dreaming big and set an immediate target because football is about setting records," Lukwago reasoned.

"Your resolve this year should be to win the Champions League. We can't wait to receive that trophy at Entebbe and for me, it is my dream before I exit City Hall; So the focus this time should be getting those away wins so that we consolidate them with the home wins,"

"I would like to see a continental title at City Hall. It is achievable because currently, we are in the cluster of the likes of Al Ahly, Sundowns, TP Mazembe and its no mean achievement but there is need to transcend those levels because we have the talent,"   Lukwago stated before he excited fans with a sh1b announcement towards the StarTimes stadium expansion.

On his part, Kitaka thanked all the sponsors and congratulated all the awardees and urged them to keep working hard. He also promised to look for more sponsors and work on expanding the capacity of the stadium.

"We are currently making plans to see how we can progressively expand the stadium and also install floodlights so that we can have night games; and a gym at the stadium so that our players can always exercise and be fit through their private workouts," Kitaka stated.

"This is very important so we shall work together with the political leadership in KCCA and the technical team of the club to ensure this is achieved," Kitaka said before cautioning players on discipline.

"The time when you are a star is a short span in your life and you have to use it to the best of your abilities and this you can do only if you're disciplined. Please manage your success, be disciplined and you'll benefit the most from your talent," Kitaka counseled.

Deputy Lord Mayor Sarah Kanyike also chipped in with: "Work hard on your game but keep the discipline and go to school,"

The biggest winners on the night included Captain Timothy Awany who walked away with the MTN Philip Omondi KCCA FC Most Valuable Player of the Year and the MTN KCCA Fans Player of the Year Awards. Both awards came with a combined sh6m (sh1m and sh5m cash respectively).

"I'm very grateful to have won this award and I take this opportunity to thank the almighty for what I'm now and what I have done with the club; and I would like to thank fellow teammates for putting up the fight and keeping the discipline as well as the coaching staff," Awany stated.
