Lukwago challenges KCCA to conquer Africa

The club clinched its 13th league title

The Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago, has tasked KCCA FC players to dominate on the continent since they have the potential.

"We want you to dominate on the continent. You have managed to be successful on the local scene and now you have to show consistency when playing on the continent," Lukwago stated.

He made the remarks at a dinner he organised for the KCCA FC players and staff at the Lord Mayor's Parlour at City Hall, Kampala on Thursday evening. This was in appreciation of the club for clinching their 13th league title. He also offered the players token of sh3.2m.

Lukwago also assured the club that they are in the process of upgrading its StarTimes Stadium and that sh5b has been set aside to cater for that.

KCCA FC who two seasons ago hosted their continental games at Namboole Stadium after an inspection from CAF concluded that the facility in Lugogo was not conducive to host international games, is in the process of revamping the venue.

Coach Mike Mutebi hailed the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) for supporting them.

KCCA deputy executive director, Sam Sserunkuma, Deputy Lord Mayor Sarah Kanyike, former club chairman Julius Lukwago, current chairman Aggrey Ashaba and club legend Tom Lwanga were some of the guests that attended the function.
