The affected sub-counties are Kapujan, Toroma, Magoro, Amusia, Omodoi and Angodingod

The Member of Parliament for Toroma County in Katakwi district, Peter Koluo, has made a commitment to table the issue of hunger on the floor of Parliament for government to intervene.

Koluo made the remarks on Tuesday while visiting his constituents in the district on a fact-finding mission on the hunger issue.

He said the affected sub-counties are Kapujan, Toroma, Magoro, Amusia, Omodoi and Angodingod.

"It is not the wish of people but unreliable rains that started last year created a big problem that caused losses in the farms," Koluo said.

Seraphine Alia the Katakwi chief administrative officer confirmed that the majority of the locals in the affected areas are experiencing starvation.

He added that his office has received details of some of the affected areas but others have not been submitted yet it is one of the lobbying tools if food is to be released by the government.

Alia called on all the other areas that are affected by a shortage of food across the district to collect data and inform his office as soon as possible.
