EDUCATION
KAMPALA - Located in Oratido village, Odek Sub County in Omoro district, Acet Primary School has a population of 1137 pupils.
However, despite being government owned, the school operates without capitation grant since 2018.
The head teacher, Ochan Lakot, revealed that since 2018, they have not received the money noting that they are almost failing to buy scholastic materials.
Lakot said she has notified the district education officer (DEO) and the LC5 Chairperson in vain.
"They promised to handle the situation as soon as possible but we are in another year and nothing has come in. This is making my life and that of teachers hard because pupils expect us to teach them without fail," she noted.
Lakot revealed that in order for the school not to shut down completely, she resorted to asking the parents to contribute some little money such that the school can buy urgent scholastic materials.
"This is stressful to the parents but there is nothing we can do apart from asking them to contribute," she noted.
