ARUA - The Member of Parliament for Upper Madi County, Isaac Etuka Joakino has been jailed.
Etuka was sent to Luzira Prison on Friday after he failed to pay court costs.
The development followed Etuka's arrest on Thursday by police. New Vision has learnt that the MP's woes emanated from his failure to beat the February deadline that required him to pay court costs amounting to sh2m to John Arumadri Drazu.
Drazu petitioned court during the 2016 general elections, declaring that Etuka was not dually nominated to contest in the election. Drazu argued that there was a court injunction contesting his candidature in the party primary elections.
However, Electoral Commission mysteriously failed to keep Etuka off the ballot paper as required by court— and voters went ahead and elected him.
