Uganda's Excel Soccer Academy players will be part of over 70 teams that will participate in the Manchester City Youth Cup in Abu Dhabi this weekend.

A contingent of 28 players and 6 parents led by Coach Patrick Gwayambadde left on Thursday for the two-day tournament set for March 29-30.

"We were invited by Manchester City and are taking the U-12 team this time. We are looking forward to strengthening this partnership; In July, I shall be taking the U-15 for a soccer camp and hopefully, in December we can revisit for another championship.

"We have prepared very well and our team is strong; the boys have prepared very well and I believe they are good enough. In our group we are going to play Juventus (Kuwait), PSG (France), OSG (Oman) and in the prestige youth annual tournament," Gwayambadde said.

Maurice Biiva, the captain of the team said he was also looking forward to the trip and expects his side to return victorious.

"I want to enjoy the trip because it is my first time to board a plane. But I also want to see the other tourist's attractions like the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and the dancing water at the Dubai Fountain. I think we shall win the trophy because we have good players," Biiva said
