Wafula, Namapi vying for URU job

Both Wafula and Namapi confirmed their candidature to the New Vision online with each emphasizing focus on grassroots rugby.

Former rugby Country Manager Herbert Wafula and ex-women rugby chairperson Irene Namapi will face-off in the Uganda Rugby Union elections due next month for the post of honorary secretary.

The Uganda Rugby Union elections will be held on April 14 with five posts including President, vice president commercial, vice president technical, secretary and treasurer up for grabs.
 
Wafula, a former Black Pirates, Warriors, Rhinos Rugby Clubs and also a former Rugby Cranes coach believes he has the expertise and experience to run the union secretariat effectively. Namapi too believes she is what the union has been waiting for them.
 
"I have talked to club chairmen and other officials and soon I will be officially launching my campaign," Wafula who is also a member of the rugby technical committee said.
 
Wafula who is also New Vision Columnist is a former national team skipper and well informed about Uganda rugby in particular and regional rugby.
